Girl's slow pitch softball, August 12, 2017
The beginning of high school sports season started for me this past Saturday, August 12. We traveled over to Newton County to cover Choctaw Central and Neshoba Central with their games with Union.
As always with the first game, we had to get the timing down and we did so fairly quickly. We were able to get decent images from all three teams.
Choctaw Central looked good, for what I think was their second game of the young season. Coach Crystal Roach has these girls looking polished already. I would not be surprised to see them back at Freedom Ridge Park again in the championship game. Kids that stood out, would be Maleghia Joe and LaChrisha Williams, both belting homers. The team got great infield play from Darrien Tubby at short, Leia Phillips at second and Iris Favre at first. Maleighia Joe played a great game at center, making a couple of running catches.
Neshoba Central? They looked just as you would expect. What could I say that hasn't already been said about them?
